Casual Fall Mini Capsule Wardrobe

Fall is FINALLY here! It is my favorite time of the year. Being a ginger, warm autumn color palettes make me glow. As a SAHM (stay-at-home mom), I also like clothes that are casual, comfortable, breathable, and can flow with my ever-changing schedule. I'm also a book nerd, and this wardrobe speaks to my librarian core side, just a little. The best part is THIS WARDRBOBE IS AFFORDABLE!  I've gathered pieces that are easy to find, come in a wide range of sizes, and will not destroy your budget. 

About capsule wardrobes

If you're new to the capsule wardrobe concept, you're in for a treat. I love them because they take all the guesswork out figuring out what to wear every day. Capsule wardrobes are a curated collection of similar clothing and accessory items that all coordinate with each other, so you can mix and match any piece to create multiple outfits with just a few items. 

Capsule wardrobes are perfect for travel since you can pack a few key pieces and get a whole trip's worth of outfits without busting your suitcase zipper with a ton of random clothes that you might wear. You can recycle pieces to save space and your sanity. 

How to use this wardrobe

I think this wardrobe can be used year-round, but it is especially inspiring for the crisp, cooler days of fall. With rusty cinnamon tones and light layers, you can rock your autumn love in the cooler mornings and lighten up for the warmer afternoons. 

Get the most out of your wardrobe by:

  • shopping your closet. The pieces are suggestions but use whatever you have on hand or in your color palette to make outfit combinations that work with you and save money.
  • shopping around. You could find similar items on sale or cheaper than the ones I have curated. I'm all for a good bargain!
  • substituting what doesn't work for you. Don't like stripes? Go with a solid tee. Prefer wide leg over bootcut jeans? Right on! Let your true style shine.

The Pieces

Tops

  • Long-sleeved striped tee in Sea Salt Pink/Ginger Stripe. Short sleeves or a solid color would work.
  • Sweater with floral pattern, or sweatshirt, can also use stripes, solid or another pattern. 
  • Short-sleeved tee in pink or coral, or blouse, if you're fancy. I like this one because it has some pretty details and a relaxed, flattering shape.
  • Short-sleeved solid blouse in American Navy. This one is quilted with lightly puffed sleeves for an elevated look but comfy feel.
  • Cardigan in Noble Brown — not too long or bulky and the cinnamon-brown tone plays nicely with the light pinks and blues. 
  • Denim Shirt in Medium Wash — light enough for cool-day layering or wear alone as a button-up shirt.


Bottoms

  • High-rise flare leg jeans in Medium Highway. Wide leg, bootcut, cropped, any style works.
  • Joggers in a ginger-cinnamon tone. 
  • Maxi skirt — maroon with floral embroidery. This one is a splurge for me, but I love it too much to pass up. Choose a midi, short, or mini length. Whatever you feel best in.
  • Wide-leg cropped pants in True Rust. Casual and breezy. 


Shoes

  • White sneakers — classic and goes with anything. Any style will do.
  • Color block sneakers — totally optional, but these are super comfy and the muted hues work with so many colors and seasons.
  • Floral Sneakers — THE staple for me this fall. These Keds sneakers are too cute.
  • Leather Booties in bitter chocolate. I like the flat heel for all-day running around, but you do you. 


Accessories

  • Tote bag in green, for those days when you need extra space for all the things.
  • Satchel handbag in Autumn Brown — I love a brown leather satchel. This one is also a crossbody, and that button clasp is the best.
  • Small crossbody — Be still, my bookish heart. The whimsical "Booked and Busy" on this one got me. I love the gold chain, too. It's everyday elegant, but not too fancy.
  • Crossbody Sling in brown leather. This is my daily go-to bag. It's sturdy, stylish, and surprisingly fits a lot of stuff.
